I started working in the insurance business in 1976 joining with my father, John J. Harford, Sr. and working as Harford Associates, selling credit life and credit accident & health insurance to savings institutions in the area such as banks, savings & loan and credit unions. I quickly began selling group insurance products – group health, group life, and disability, group dental and vision plans and group voluntary products to small and mid-sized employers in the Pittsburgh and surrounding area. I also started selling individual products such as life insurance, individual health insurance, and disability plans to many individuals and to the self-employed.
With my father’s retirement and passing in 2009, my insurance business is now sold through two local general agencies, using the Arms Insurance Group for my group products as well as for my individual health business and I also use The Brokers Source of Pittsburgh for my individual life and disability business. Two very solid and well-experienced agencies that offer me support in both selling and servicing my business.
I am very experienced in the group and individual insurance markets in this area, especially in the health insurance field and I am very well versed in keeping current with the upcoming changes with The Affordable Care Act. In 2018, I started to sell Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plans representing 4 of the major players in Western PA in those markets: UPMC, Aetna, and Highmark My services offer my clients a way to make their task of finding the right insurance coverage as well as with the right insurance company easier with no extra fees attached. As an independent broker, I work with my client’s best interest at heart.
